A: Residential smoke detectors have a life of between 7 and 10 years. The newer style 120 volt smoke detectors have a battery in them as well, in case the power is interuppted. You can go to the BRK website for more information.

A: "GFCI "or "GFI" receptacles and circuit breakers are installed on circuits in areas where the potential of an electric shock is prevelent.These are required in new installations in the following areas, garages, receptacles installed outside the building, kitchen counters, bathrooms and unfinished basements. A: In most homes, yes. We have done a lot of recessed light installation in existing homes with little or no damage to the existing walls or ceilings. Juno and  Lightolier are the two brands of recessed lighting that we install most. They are of high quality and have a great finished look.

Q: How does a generator transfer switch work and why should I install one?
A: A transfer switch connects to the circuits in your electrical panel that you need most during a power outage, like a furnace, lights, well pump, television, garage door opener, water heater, etc.  A transfer switch prevents utility workers from getting hurt by dangerous backfeeding from unsafe generator installations

Q: Is electric heat safe?
A: Typical electric baseboard heaters are installed at floor level and can come in contact with drapes, power cords, and other flammable objects. Radiant cove heating systems can provide a safe and economical alternative to standard electric baseboard heaters.
